A local store here carries a small selection of Benchmade knives. I went in to see if they had any 586's. This is the knife I had finally decided I wanted. They didn't have any but they did have a 585 mini-barrage so I handled it to make sure I would like the mini-barrage. I found that I prefer not to have spring assist on the axis lock knives. So I checked out a couple more knives and ended up really liking the 300sn Axis Flipper. Very nice looking knife. The action was very smooth. I ended up coming home and ordering one online. Sadly I could buy it on-line over SIXTY DOLLARS cheaper than at my local store. I am not usually a big flipper fan but this knife was so smooth, attractive and felt GREAT in my hand. Will post a review when I get it.

Sweet! Glad to here you found what you like!

I am hoping that Benchmade will make a larger version of this knife with a 3.5 inch or larger blade. Hint, hint.

That sounds about right. Very few people are allowed to sell BM knives bellow the a certain price, and in-store is always marked up from online because stores are out to make a profit from random people, not from people who know where to buy knives. Did you get it for under $120?

I absolutely love my 300. It's really smooth, and it just feels durable in the hand because of its weight. Plus the clip is awesome

A local gun shop in my town has killer prices on benchmades. They had contegos for 140$ I bought a 300sn for 120 $ rifts were 130 $ seibert bush knife was 135$ but their spyderco prices suck! I'd figure living in colorado, spyderco prices would be like the benchmade prices.

Yes the 300 is a very sturdy folder. Some complain that it is to chunky. I really liked the feel and look of it though. The Adamas is my favorite knife, really size wise and the thickness of the blade it's in a way kind of like a mini-Adamas. :p

I also didn't really care about flippers, until I got a Buck Vantage. Great blade also, but it lacked in a few areas, including lock strength, premium steel, and handle material. Benchmade and Spyderco raced to see who could get out a flipper first. Both really looked good, but I could not fathum spending the money on a Southard when the 300 was more affordable and an excellent blade. I'm really glad I got the 300, it's not a knife that everyone has, and it it extremely functional.

Axis lock with a flipper???? You kidding me!!! Match made in heaven.
