Walked into a local store today, saw a pink Boker Plus which I thought would be PERFECT for the lady in my life......
gentleman was kind enough to let me put a purchase on it and sure enough, usually "checking" the weapon before really gripping the jimping on the blade paid off.......

Boker completely ignored cutting the back of the blade to allow the lock to maneuver behind it. We're talking easily 1/8" excess material rounded instead of cut square to the lock tab. We looked at the black version and sure enough, they flat out botched it..... sad when you see something you love the design of and that happens. Gave boker a shot once, took me 5 years or so to even consider them to have evolved........ never again.
:thumbdn:

If someone cant even as simply flick it open and check the lock before it leaves the shop, I can't imagine the things that get overlooked.

Guaranteed it was the 42 version of whatever knife it was, thats the slipjoint version. They still have a lockbar, but the blade is not cut to keep it from en-gaging.This is to comply with European knife laws.

It was a subcom,

The retailer said it wasn't a slip model and he was as baffled as I.. If that's an attempt to save money by not remain the lock well, that's not very smart from an injury standpoint.

I would have to say everyone is correct, it is most likely a 42 version. Especially since the OP described the lock bar not being cut away to the tang. That is the only outward sign of the knife being a 42.

It should have 42 written on the blade. That would be the most obvious outward sign.
