Yesterday at about 3:00 p.m. we had a huge storm come through the Tulsa area. Winds as high as 85 mph it's said. Anyway it knocked our power out and we came up to Barb's brothers place so I could get online for a while and let y'all know. The power company says there's 70,000 people without power and it may be the weekend before everything is fixed.
:grumpy:
It's the drizzlin $hitz because the people across the street and even next door to us on the south side have power. It seems every time the weather hiccups the power in our little section goes down, maybe a half dozen houses and the bar on the corner. I imagine that we're pretty low priority even though we have people in our row of houses that are much worse off than I and they really depend on the power grid!!!!
:grumpy:
Fortunately it's not too hot and is supposed to only reach 80* today and with a chance of rain the rest of the week the temperatures may hold, hopefully, or we may have to rent a motel in order to be able to sleep cool.
When I was young and healthy we didn't have the luxuries that I'm used to and familiar with today and the heat didn't bother that much but it damned sure does now, done got old and soft.
Even our phone depends on electricity to operate but Barb is off now with our sister in law to Walmart where hopefully she can pick up a cheap phone and other needed items.
So if anyone who has our number's needs to contact us please use our cell phone number if you can't get through on our land line.
We tried to call Nasty and his soulmate but all we got was a recording so that made our trip up here necessary because it is history that if one of us isn't here for a few days the others worry 'bout us and I didn't want that.
Yvsa, roughing it in Oklahoma.
PS Reminds us both of the early old days when we were both growing up and only had coal oil lanterns and battery powered radio.
Talk radio is still alive and well. The only thing changed is the announcers and the times. Politicians is still the subject of choice. I'm really glad to hear they're bashing the hell outta John Kerry and his bunch!!!! Back when I was a kid it was the GOP usually being bashed.
