I have been reading some on paper wheels, Does anyone know were a site is i can order the whole kit, ie. moter, wheels. I recently bought a lansky kit, and I would rather just move up the sharpening chain to the wheel. I have plenty of users i could practice on before better knifes.

you can pick them up at any woodcraft store or order them from there. grizzly imports also carries them and you can order them from there. .

www.sharpeningwheels.com for the wheels. mike is the best. harbor freight for the 6" bench grinder. 8" wheels and a 6" grinder is the way to go.[thanks richard j.] he's the one who helped all of us.

thanks, I will continue reading on them, sounds like there is going to be a learning curve,( to be expected with anything new), but Im sure with time ill get it. from reading and a few videos on you tube it seems to be a much quicker way to sharpen. thanks again.

The learning curve is short - provided you understand what you are trying to achieve to have a sharp edge. Even (light) pressure. Constant even movement.

make sure you read the safety tips i posted. there is a link in the paper wheel thread somewhere to it. you dont need the 3400 rpm grinder to run the wheels on. a 1/2 hp-1725 rpm motor and an arbor to mount the wheels on will work just fine. thats all i have used for about 19 years.

I went to home depot earlier and most of theres were about 3400 rpms...they were affordable, but is there a break set to slow it down. or should i go ahead and buy a nicer grinder...I was looking at a ryobi bench grinder, planning on taking off the shields and attaching the 8in wheels i was shown on the other site.

richard I did see your post about motors on the same thread about sticking a knife in the foot..alot of good pricibles there. thanks for posting them,,im planning to put this together in the next week or 2. Great info is on these forums guys. thanks alot
