Were torx cap screws used on older ZTs?

Just bought my first ZT and I'm new to the brand, so I'm trying to identify the model I've picked up. It has aluminum machined scales, and blade shape reminiscent of an 0200, however it is not marked except with the ZT logo. It is at least 3-4 yrs old. I'll post a pic here in a bit. Is there a way to ID them somehow? One major difference with this ZT is the pivot uses a torx cap screw and not a slotted machine screw. The blade centering is off as well and it's proving difficult to adjust.

There are fake zt 0200 out there.
All real ZTs are serial numbered. I have a early 0200 number 0250 and it looks just like the new ones with 3D G10.

If it's fake, man..... it's a damn well made fake and cuts like crazy. Guy said he bought it in 09. Scales are textured aluminum, also very high quality. Could it be just old?

Yes, with pictures.

It looks like a poor copy of the 0200 made from pictures someone saw on the internet. Some of the proportions are wrong. It looks like a skinny 0200 with a stretched out clip and wrong screws. Instead of machined G10 it looks like they made a ridged mold and used injection molded ABS but if they are aluminum then it has to be a painted cast aluminum and probably not anodized or milled. Looks like the same paint/coating that is on the blade. The ZT blade color is almost like a chalkboard black and not glossy and that dark. Same shiny stuff on the clip and no ZT logo on the clip. I can't really tell in your shots but the scales also look very thin and flat without a swell to them. That they used actual metal instead of plastic says something though... what it says I think is that this is a $5 checkout stand knife instead of a junk free with purchase knife. I think you've been had. Hopefully not for a lot. If this IS a real ZT then it's probably the cheapest looking ZT I've ever seen and some model I've never heard of. I'm certainly no expert.

That doesn't look like any ZT I've ever seen. Looks like a version of what would be a mini-0200. Thumbstuds and pivot both look wrong. I think oregonknifenerd and bluejayburly nailed it. Hope you didn't spend too much on this. It'd make a good conversation/lesson learned piece next to a 0200.

Well maybe he figured it out and wanted to pass it on, or he unknowingly just sold it to you. Call him out on it and or return it.

I have seen 0200's sell for around $125, I think thats currently the biggest and cheapest Zero Tolerance knife there is.
I've heard the 0350 is the best seller though, and low price option also.

I would try to get a real ZT or Kershaw, their warranty and customer service is the best in the business.

I sent you a PM with a link to the $8 knife that it is. I made a seller on the bay aware of the same knife he was trying to sell as a Zero Tolerance. I hope you didn't buy it from him as he knew well and good that it wasn't genuine. Sorry about the news.

Aw crap. Guy dinged me but not for much. The ass kicking will be free!

Wow, that is 100% fake. I was going to say, either your phone and hands are HUGE or that is a tiny knife. Sorry you got took man, I hope you get your cash back.

Getting my money back....

Glad for you on that, I really dislike getting ripped off!

I found $20 on my nightly walk the other evening. I was hopping to run into the person looking for it to give it back, I kept think how I feel when I loose money or favorite/valuables.

Funny I just saw these on a wholesaler website. Freaking shame. Seems they will copy anything.
