Here are some photos from work. Doing some repairs and inspections on a crude furnace. Basically a huge forge. Has 2 chambers that share a common flue that preheats the crude oil. The piping is 5"ID 5% chrome. The 40' runs hang from the roof from the ceiling with inconel hangers. Each chamber has 20 burners that fire with oil or propane. It runs at about 1600f and the crude oil in the pipe keeps the piping "cool" as it is heated. Oil exits at 900f to a column that separates it to varius fractions (raw gas, diesel propane/butane and heavies). No leaks allowed
. The zoom boom reaches a 125" so I could inspect the stack and guy wires. It is great fun when you weigh about 275 to flex your knees quick and bounce your parter.
