I've been able to find a little information about this relatively new maker and I know he's studied under some good solid names.

Does anyone here own a knife that he's made and if so what are your impressions?

marlin,
I handled two knives that were on his table at the Bladeshow in Atlanta.
They were single blade trapper style slipjoints,a large & a smaller, both had amber stag type scales One had filework & the other did not.
They seemed to be made rather well
He was not at the table,I spoke with his wife, she said he learned some, from Bill Ruple.
His tel. # is 903-652-2786 e-mail wwdavis@starband.net
It seems he has a web site as well www.wesdavisknives.com

I was close to empty on spare cash & his smaller trapper was tempting to me,I commented to some of my buddies later on,about his knives

Yes Chuck that is an impressive piece. Mr. Davis has either that knife or one similar pictured on his website. From what I understand he does his own damascus work.

I think we may be hearing his name over and over in the future.

I purchased one of Mr. Davis's slip joint trappers with file work. At the Oregon knife show. The pricing was very fair. He had been making fixed bladed knives for sometime and started working with Mr. Ruple on making of course slip joints. The influence from Bill can be seen in his pieces. The fit and finish was very user friendly. The one I purchase is carried most of the time, and has fine spring tension.
