Some of us here on the west coast have been talking about a gathering for us over here. Granted there really isn't a bunch of us, yet, there is still enough to do something fun for sure.

As of now the plan is to have a gathering in late summer early fall in south Oregon. Those of us who have been talking about it have decided that would probably be the best central location for all of us to get to.

Anyway; for all the Beckerheads, and non-beckerheads who want to come, on the West coast, or those who couldn't make it to Ethan's and want to get to a gathering, speak up and let us know if this is something that you'd want to do and if you'd want to come and play. This is all still in the planning phase right now and we can work out times/dates to get the most people out there. So this is just a discussion about what we want to do there and when we want to get together.

Speak up if you have any ideas or input about the event.

DATES;

September 16th, 17th, and 18th

LOCATION;

Noti, Oregon property. 1200 acres from Oregon Fal'er

I'm in!! I can't be there the last weekend of August, I'll be in Seattle. Other than that, I'm good. I am bringing cheese cake. That's all I know so far.

In, lemme know if I can help.

Yeah I can help as well, I can scout locations, setup, take down...etc. You name it.... The joys of having 100% free time!

What kind of activities do you folks wanna see happening at this?
I'd like something on wild edibles.

You know we're going to have to do some kinda shelter building contest...and batoning, and feather sticking, and other such knife related things; survivally type things!

I'd like to get some feed back from you guys as to where you would think a good place for this would be if'n we can't use my Grandpa's property. Widerstand already had mentioned national forest, but we still need a location within there. I was talking with Wider last night and we are estimating that there is the possibility that 25+ people could show up; that is if people bring their families with. With that said we should keep in mind that there could be 25 people showing up to this. Let me know what you guys think.

Well off the bat I think we need some criteria for what locations work. I already have a few kicking around in my head. Can have about 25ish people, fires are a must, near by water, lots wood for shelters, probably within 1 mile of were you can park, not a camp ground.

Good point. I think that those are good criteria for the gathering location.

Wow, what a cool idea! I'd love to make it up, Oregon is one of my favorite places to camp, at least along the coast which is where I've been, oh and hiking around Portland, too. I most likely will not be able to attend, though. As a full time student taking classes through summer and all, my time is really monopolized.
Maybe I can send up a good "punch" recipe or something.

If you get something finalized, let me know, I'll round ya'll up some prizes.

Yep were gonna need some woodsy knife activities. Also it needs to be beer friendly, and swearing.
If there's gonna be kids, someone can do clinics on fire , knife safety.

Are there any possible places near a lake, river, or creek down that way that you guys think could be a good place for us? I think it would be cool to be near water, but it's not necessary for us.

I don't have any issues with having kids there. I have a couple myself. My only concern would be their safety. We are going to have knives swinging around and doing other camp/survival related things. That and swearing.

Having clinics for us growed us too would be fun. I know I'm not skilled enough with multiple fire making methods, and wild edibles would be cool think to learn.

BasiliOS, would you be coming down for this? If you want to we can share a ride down for my place.

So far it looks like we have only 4 people coming. Myself, Fal'er, Wider, and the Capt.

Lets keep this us toward the top so everyone on the West coast can see.

I don't know if you guys saw the thread that pitdog started asking about the BK5, but I invited him. He is just up in Vancouver Island I think. It sounds like he could teach us a thing or two.

I'd definitely be down for something, depending on the timing & my schedule (but I don't imagine that I won't be able to have at least a couple days to get away). And I could certainly guide a couple wild edible plant walks & things of that nature,since that's been mentioned twice & it's something I know a lot about.
