I ordered 4' of 1084 on the 5th of January, it didn't get shipped out until the 14th. It was supposed to be delivered today and I just checked the fedex site and it's undeliverable, damaged in shipping. This was my first order based on all the rave reviews from the forum. At this point I cannot wait another 2 weeks. Is there any online retailer that is on the west coast? The shipping alone was the same price of the steel all the way across the country.
 
Kelly is good and he will also cut it into pieces so it will fit in flat rate boxes..We use to order his 1060 flat bar to make wrap&weld hawk heads ut of..He would cut them all into 9" pieces(which is what we used) and that way several sticks would fit into a medium flat rate box..Good dude.

Also that "undeliverable" thing is FedEx's fault Im sure(package isn't damaged when it leaves the supplier)..They got a box of steel wet on me once and didn't want to deliver it..I told them that it was steel and it would not hurt..They got me to sign a waver but I got my steel..

They have a $25 miniumum and charge actually shipping cost + $1 handling.

You can get some different kinds and try them out.
 
I just gave AKS a ++ in another thread so will make it + four here. Guess I'm a few hours north of you but I generally get steel from AKS within three days. Great people to deal with. I'd second the comment on the damage to the first order. Check with Fed EX and see what the problem is. It is steel after all. I generally have to use a bandsaw to get into those packages. But ALL shipping companies have their ways.
 
Cant believe I forgot Chuck..We just ordered from them last week. Had the steel in about 3 days and Im a long way from Washington..Great service.
 
I get my Presco O1 from a place called "flat stock.com" Never had a shipping problem and it usually shows up on 3-4days. I am in Idaho and I think they are in Illinois. Paper wrapped and packaged well. Prices are competitive. They have Aristocrats D2 also. I have recently ordered some CPM 154 from Pop's based on recommendations here, but I will have to see when it gets here.

I order from flatground.com all the time. I actually just ordered some d2 from there last week.

I think they are in Bolingbrook, IL. I order on a Monday morning and I get it in 48 hours or less, but I'm also only about three or four hours away. :)
 
I've purchased all my steel thus far from Kelly Cupples. Great guy and like Salem said, all orders over $100 ship free.

However, I will likely order from AKS in the very near future though as Kelly only carries carbon steels.

I would like to add to this that Kelly also carries Parks 50 and AAA quenching oil in original heatbath packaging in five gallon quantities
