Hello All I fish the creeks here in West Virginia and was wondering if any of you have ever had the pleasure to fish the wonderful creeks of West Virginia. I have fished the Ohio river too but prefer the creeks 10 to 1.

I love west virginia. Good trout fishing there:thumbup:

I have relatives in the Bluefield area.

I have trout fished all over the southeast but never WV.

Do y'all fly fish or use your typical spinner bait tackle or both?

My favorite baits are Panther Martins, rooster tails, and Mr. Twisters. They all work great on BASS. My FAVORITE to catch, they put up a great fight to get the beauty in.

The northern (Morgantown, Fairmont area) and the north-eastern parts don't do a lot for me, but get down in the southern coal fields and there's some great criks! The only way to fish em is noodlin!

Hell Yea Baby, you don't have to tell me about Largemouth Bass and the way they fight!!. I've been fishing for Florida Largemouth since I was knee-high to a chipmunk.. :p :D :D

Bass are my favorite fresh water cathing fish too.. I am also a Mister Twister soft bait fan as well.

Show some pictures next time you have a chance!?!!

Thanks and all the best,

Anthony

I'll be in West Virginia on the first weekend of June. Bowden/Elkins area to fish the Shavers Fork of the Cheat River.

Absolutely love it there. If I could relocate to any part of the country, that would be it.

Headed to the Ohio River to do some fishing today. Talk to you all later. Ash

Grew up doing it. New Creek was walking distance from my house and Patterson Creek a short drive. I fished both as a youth and a young adult alone, with friends and family.

I'll be fishing the Ohio River today in Paden City. If any of you know where that is. My best friend and me will be going there or maybe if she'll go we can head over to Conway Lake. Take Care all. Ash

I love West Virginia! I spent my summers as a kid on my family's land just outside of Romney. My dad's retiring up there. I did most of my fishing on our land- we have 300 acres with several ponds and lakes that we stocked. We have tons of huge, aggressive bass, as well as some catfish that are getting big. The cats have been doing a good job keeping the sunfish and small bass populations down enough that they can get big and mean. Fishing those guys is cheating I know, but that never bothered me. Absolutely beautiful country.

Some big flatheads in that part of the Ohio and I have fished and camped that Conway lake many times.

You never know maybe we'll see each other there sometime. Take Care in Salem WV about an hour from me. My sister works in the kids correctional home there. Youth Industries

A nice Shiner caught at The Ohio River

What made you leave WV

Initially it started from joining the service to pay for and support my son on the way after getting my high school sweet heart pregnant. Cathy divorced me later on right after I got out of tech school and we never even lived together but I was committed for six years by that time. It was never my intent to leave home and it did surprise everyone since it was spur of the moment and unplanned when I signed the dotted line to join the Air Force. It just happened that way. Sometimes life is strange where it leads you I guess. Things back home are still very close to me though and I do and always have missed the mountains.
My entire family, brothers, sisters, nieces, and nephews, my mother and cousins are all still there where I grew up on the Potomac River. Maybe yet one day I'll make it back for good or at least get closer geographically so I can visit more often. Stranger things have happened.
