Western 48A

I am looking for a Western knife for my son. I would like to get one like mine (have had it thirty years) but can't seem to find one. It looks like a small game knife, but has a 4 1/4 inch blade and an overall length of about 8 inches. I have my dads old western that looks the same, only his has a leather stacked handle. His sheath is more decorative than mine and has a 48A stamped on it. Is this knife still being made? Any help would be appreciated.

Welcome to BladeForums!! That particular model is no longer in production, however, the closest knife to that description is the WL66. Which is a stcked leather washer style knife. It may even be the same knife but with a new model number. Take a look on Camillus' website and see if this is what you are looking for.

BTW I just found an F48A on ebay: http://cgi.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1051695548 that apears to be in perty good condition. Oh yeah, you can also do a search there for "Western Knife" that seems to turn up a lot of good results. Hope this helps.
