I was wondering if anyone could tell me what steel Camillus used in the Western 71, fixed blade? I am referring to the later civilian type and not the original L71 Seabee knife. This one is the same style though, but not darkened.

Also, anyone have any ideas on production years for the same and when they quit making them?

Thanks,
Amos

Amos,
I have a copy of Levines Guide 4th Ed.. And I will be pleased to refer to that for you if you can post a pick or a link and all the specs you can muster up. Or you could post this over in his forum(Benard Levines Knife Collection and Identification Forum)here at BF where I have learned more about knives than any one place, bar none.

No mention of a civilan Western 71 in Levine's Gospel. However, he does mention the recent and current day Western knives were produced by Camillus and then Coleman.

I say again re-post this on Levine's Identification forum and he will no doubt be able to provide more information..:)

Okay, okay, I'll post it over there. Didn't do me any good the last time I asked something over there though. But, I'll be good and post it. Maybe third time is charms.

On a good note, I did get the one I won in the mail today and it is in new shape. Gee, another great mailbox Monday. Now if I didn't have to spend money to fill the mailbox with new toys.
