Western(Boulder Co.)Knife/Ax Combos

Need to know if someone out there knows the history of the Western
"Black Beauty" Ax/knife combos. More specifically when Western began
stamping a letter/No. combo on the knife blade. I recently purchased
a black beauty knife stamped with "F39" and need to know manufacture dates
if possible.

Can't help you and would like to know more myself. I have, what I believe to be, black beauty hatchet. Metal handle with shiney and dark bands. Very thin, no sheath.
