Hello, I just bought a blank blade of a C101 Coleman Western fixe knife. I've never seen a picture of a complete one!
The blade is 5 1/4", full tang, total lenth is 10" (approx dimensions because blade not yet received).
I know the C102, I own a C103 but I'vent information about C101. Is it only a prototype? Or only very small quantity sold?
Thank you if you have picture and/or informations about this model.
Sorry for my poor english...:o
Best regards

These pictures are from the blank blade I've bought!
I've just received it today, it seems that handle side has been shortened. I think the good shape should be like C103 knife, with lanyard hole, any other idea or information are welcome.

C103 attached picture.

The knife C101 seems to be very unknown.
Thank you for your help & best regards

Hello Ed
Exactly, the sheath on my sent picture is not for C103 but surely for a 39 type. The good sheath is on the under picture (here is missing the sharpening stone fixing.

And a new picture to see differences between C101 received blade and C103 knife.
Best regards.

Yes, I agree with you, but there's two options:
- Keep actual handle shape (not historically interesting but easy to do)
- Recover original handle shape by adding stainless steel part (C103 knife can be used as template)

In this case I must verify 440C can be weld without damage, has anyone tried?
To be nearest to the original, I'm looking for brown pakkawood, have you good suppliers for this?

Regards

In the 1986 Coleman/Western catalog, the C101 or the C103 is not listed. I would say that because of the "C" the knives are Coleman not Coleman/Western. Do you have a picture of the C103 with the stainless part? I would just make a handle like the other knife and have a matched set.

Hello Ed
I agree with you to rebuilt C101 with handle like my C103 knife.
I've first to prepare the welding add part in stainless stell (not very hard to do with C103 as template).
I'll post pictures of restore steps.
I've found large choice of pakkawood at Jantz Supply and placed an order.

Best regards.

Are you talking about the guard? If so it should be nickle silver not stainless. I looked in the Coleman catalog on line.

No Ed, I'm talking about a cutting part at the end of handle of C101 blade.
Normally C101 & C103 have the same handle, as you can see on pictures, C101 blade have been shortened. So I must weld part of stainless stell to recover the original shape.
These two knives are full tang and guard is only given by blade protusion.
