curious to get your guys impressions as to the quality of this little hatchet and best uses. I'd love to post a pic, but not having any luck.

If its the one I am thinking of it has the stacked black and silver handle. They also made a Black Beauty knife I believe. If its in good shape I would keep it as a collectors item and get something else to use.

That is the one. It is in good shape, particularly the business end of this hatchet looks virtually unused, but the handle has a pretty significant scar in the handle, this doesn't effect function but degrades value I'd imagine.

Any of you guys have any feedback on performance and quality of this little guy? I am looking to fill a gap in my backcountry bowhunting pack; something for general camp chores and for specific butchering tasks that benefit from the use of a hatchet. I do not plan to carry a limb saw/bone saw in the future.

I have one of those western hatchets that I picked up at a flea market. Kind of rough on the head. It seems to sharpen up nice, blade could be used like an ulu. The handle grip is positive. Would be easy to wash up. To use it might save your knife blade. I really haven't used it yet but am going to. It's fairly light. May be good for pelvis splitting but I don't do that, too much meat exposure. I don't have the sheath. I belive it was a combo setup.
