Western Cutlery hatchet/knife combo??

Hello, I bought this off my neighbor, and am interested in some information.




USA made, the hatchet has W10 and the knife W66 stamped on the tang.

Is this valuable i.e. safe queen or can it be a user???

Sometimes it seems wrong to me to set aside such a well designed tool and not use it for the purpose it was made!
