My son and I had the choice of two local gunshows this weekend. Flipped a coin and decided to go south vs north. He'd find what he was looking for at either. I was just looking. Picked up this Western S-901. I'm a sucker for the scout pattern. Gotta love the long pulls too. Only had to oil it.

Wow!

I'm impressed. Those old Westerns were great knives. I think their carbon steel blades were like the Schrade Old Timers; easy to sharpen scary sharp and held it good.

Carl.

Looks nearly unused!
Nice find. The handles look like delrin, no?
I like the fine-jigged delrin the best, either way.

That's sweet! Great looking knife. I kinda dig the old Scout pattern too.

Now, I'm bummed. I was all happy because I picked up a really clean Colonial Forest Master, but that Western is really looks great.

Actually, not so bummed. I got the FM for go with an old Sportsman sheath knife/hand axe combo I picked up a few years ago. But that western just screams to be carried then handed down.

Very nice. Ive been eyeballing some of those western scouts on the auction site. I have a 292 peanut and 792 stockman that are fine knives.

Heck of a score! I'm not the biggest scout knife fan but I dang sure like Westerns. I'd have snatched that up in a heartbeat, that looks virtually brand new. Very well done.
