The 221 is a survival knife with a black Valox handle and 6.5" blued CV blade, sabre ground with a serrated top, right? I think the "I" would indicate 1989, if it is under the 221. There was a 221C with a camo handle. In 1986 this knive retailed for around $87.00. I don't know what they are going for now. I do not think they are common, and they are described as an indestructable knive, so I think they probably have good value.

Pretty sweet looking knife.

Boring - You are correct. "A" would be 1977, so "I" equals 1985. I can't count anymore. :o

1985 is 3 years post Rambo First Blood ;)
Western was trying to cash in on the phenom

"Clearly todays premier survival knife"
"A commando would want on his tougher mission.."
Simple awesome..LOL

The handle looks kinda weak..IMHO
What is the handle material?
Is it hollow?

But I'd still take the black version
Black matte
No glare for the enemy....:o
