Western? Wards?

Camillus made knives for Montgomery Wards. They were stamped with the brand "POWR-KRAFT". I have some "POWR-KRAFT" blades that I bought at the auction in September.

Thanks for info
I had a feeling it was either Camillus, Shrade or Imperial that made Wards for some reason
I have a WARDS knife but it doesn't have Powr-Kraft on it

When I was a kid
"Monkey Wards" meant low quality====>
"Man...You got your bike at Monkey Wards!!...Hahahahah" :eek:

Here it is
I'm pretty sure the handles were replaced
I got like 4 knives from an antique shop and I think the dude who owned them didn't like MOP
They all have this same type of handle material
Is this a Camillus???

That material is a French ivory, or Ivorine, or faux ivory celluloid.
That knife could also have been made by Utica, as they made knives for Montgomery Ward (Wards) as well.

anybody else notce the matching crimp/line on the bosters and sale? what would cause that? seems strange that it appears in basically the same spot on both sides...

Looks like someone had it in a vise...

According to John Goins, the mark "WARDS / Made in U.S.A." was made by Kutmaster, Utica, N.Y. and so marked on the small blade c. 1935-1950. But it appears several makers made them with and without etches. Another etch was "Master Quality".

i was thinking a vise too! may have been an honest attempt to tighten things up ive got some of my grandads old slippies and old timers had interesting ways of fixing knives to make them a usable tool again
