WET&DRY SANDING

I use some stuff made by Relton, it is called Option 1. This is some pretty good stuff. I use when hand finishing. It is fast and I really like it. I believe I got it at Wholesale Tool.

Personally, I do about 90% of my hand sanding dry. I have used water, wd40, and a product called Cool Tool 2 when working on blades before the handle material is installed, but I can't say that I noticed enough improvement in finish or paper life to justify the mess. I do all my finish sanding on handles dry. YMMV

Rich,

Go to www.engnath.com and read the tutorial on hand sanding. In it, Bob Engnath recommends Cool Tool or water.

I read the article about two weeks ago and I can't stop refinishing old blades that have been scratched or rusted over time. I find that a little bit of water helps immensely to rinse away residue and keep the blade a little cooler.
