Wet forming leather: will second soak hold shape as well as first soak?

This will be a bit hard to explain so please bear with me.


I want to cover a handle with overlapping 8 ounce veg leather.


Thinking of stretching the soaked leather over a form, and letting it dry completely. Then trim the underside flap to a specific shape, re-soak both the under and overside flaps, pin them in place to dry a second time.



Will the form retention of the second soaking be similar to the first?
