Wet wheel grinder easy knife jig mod

Here is a short vid showing a fast and simple mod for a wet wheel grinder. It could conceivably be used for some of the other guided systems that use a full clamp. While the clamps for woodworking tools are very effective, I never really liked the factory knife clamp and was unwilling to buy the small knife clamp for smaller knives or ones with narrow blades.

Materials are dirt cheap, holds the knife in an extremely tight/secure grip, fast to set up. You can't see it but the disk shaped stopper is convex on the underside to allow for some angle shifting - some handles when clamped don't present the edge perpendicular to the wheel.

Only downside on Tormek type wet wheel grinders (the unit in the video is a Triton) is the tool rest will need to be lengthened for blades longer than 6" or so - didn't include that mod in the video.

Edit to add: also a quick description of how I do convex on this system. Having a clamp on the handle opposed to the blade is a must for doing this as you have to get close and at a very shallow angle to the stone - too close for the majority of knives out there.
