It’s rare to see running water and so much green in the dry desert, but there are many places to see this contradiction. This was a weekend trip with a little hiking, a little food, and some kayaking around the Lake Mead area in Nevada.

I always love the little mental vacations I always find in your posts. Awesome photos man, I have got to get out that way some day. With all of the sogginess we've had here this winter a desert sounds really appealing right about now. Love the comfort food :)

Great shots as always. My gosh Reuban, I don't think I've ever seen you eat so much on a camping trip before! Isn't usually a couple of cliff bars per week??? :D Great to see John's kephy getting some action.

Another excellent set of photos, Reuben! I always look forward to your next post! I love the high desert of Nevada...had a number of opportunities in the 80's to spend quite a bit of time in the desert about 150 miles north of Las Vegas. Great place and good times!

Regards,
Ron

Thanks all.

You are right and I knew someone would say that about the amount of food. I usually don't cook food outdoors unless it's winter. Funny!
That old Kephart has ben with me since 2007.

That`s an old Kephart, one of the few pre "K" ones I did. Good to see it getting some field time.

You are right Sir, no "K" on this or my Nessmuk. I think I like that, people know it's a JK without having to put it on there. I also have one with a "K" in the lower position before you started putting them up higher.

Looks like a fantastic time! I can't wait to get some leave and maybe even go camping before summer.

Is it just me, or did anyone see the pics of the location and bearthedog and immediately think of the movie "127 Hours," which happens to be a great knife movie, in a way. :D
