I just got a Wetterlings SAW13H Wildlife Hunting axe and while I am pleased and impressed, I think I am going to get either a SAW16H or SAW20H also. Any opinions on which is the more functional?

Thanks,

They have the same head on a different handle.
Some people prefer the longer handle which allows for a two handle grip. It is the Wetterlings equivalent of the GB Small Forest Axe.
The shorter one is a true one handed hatchet, and fits in a pack. It is heavier and feels much heavier than the GB Wildlife hatchet.

For bushcraft involving quite a bit of felling and limbing, I would pick the longer one. If you will mostly split kindling, pound stakes and do some carving, go with the shorter one.

Good luck!

I'm interested in one of the little Wetterlings, but they seem to be back ordered at most outlets. Where did you get yours?
