whaddya think of esee?

Practical, great quality, excellent customer service, and not ridiculously expensive. You won't find much negative feedback about them; they do their job well.

I love my ESEE knives. There's pretty much nothing they can't handle. Excellent sheaths too.

Hands down one of the best in the business. I doubt you would be disappointed. What are you looking at?

The ESEE sub-forum section on here was very popular, almost like a cult - ESEE recommendations dominated most threads asking, "what fixed blade is best for _____" - they are well loved.

I think the prices should be knocked down $30-$50 but their warranty inspires people to actually go beat up their knives in the woods and have some fun/trust in them.

For hard working fixed blade knives on a modest budget, I'd say its a toss up between them, and the Becker knives. I've never heard anyone say anything bad about ESEE.

Generally, they are well respected. Picked up my first recently, an Esee 4 with orange handle. I have yet to give it a work out, mostly in the fondling stages. Deer season is coming up, so hopefully I'll put it to the test under real conditions. Got a feeling I'll end up with a 3 sometime.

Great quality for the money. Basic steel, 1095 is tough enough, and takes and holds a great edge. For the price, it is going to be very tough to beat (especially with the warranty, customer service, and quality sheaths and aftermarket stuff available).

You can spend a lot more and get a knife of equal or lesser money.

There are cheaper knives that will come close. The handle material is tough stuff, and adds a bit to the cost. The sheaths as well, are higher quality than what you will find on the slightly cheaper knives.

There are more expensive knives I like better (but they cost more, and don't come with a sheath included in the higher price).

Give them a try, and you won't be disappointed.

My only complaint is that the handles are a bit blocky, compared to what I am used to. This is a very subjective thing, and very easy to fix with a few minutes and some sand paper.

Love them. I just wish the sheaths were better, and the new products like the 4SS and the Laser Strike would come out soon. But the pros outweigh the cons by far.

...There are cheaper knives that will come close...
Which ones would you recommend looking at?

*edit* I should have added... I really like ESEE. I think they have a little more to offer than Beckers, which are great value knives as well. I have an older RC-4 and Izula.

They seem to make really good stuff. My Izula is extremely well made and pretty darn handy. Don't have much use for fixed blades, but I'm looking for an excuse to buy an Esee-3.

They are definitely one of the best in their niche, with an outstanding quality, fit and finish (for the price).
The only complaint I could have is on some of their designs, but that's just down to personal preference and has nothing to do with how good they are. Simple, useful and sturdy carbon steel blades for bushcraft, to a reasonable price.

I've bought 3 ESEE-4's and 2 ESEE-6's, and the quality is consistently superb. I bought an Ontario RAT-3, to save $20 and because it was a little shorter than the ESEE-3, and really regret it--the steel doesn't behave the same, and the build quality sucks for the price paid. Of course, ESEE's warranty is unbeatable, and their sheaths are great. I'm looking forward to giving their stainless ESEE-4 a try when it comes out. I'm convinced anything from ESEE is top-notch.
