The old lady thought it would be fun if we made some jack-o-lanterns, so I agreed and proceeded to cuss like a sailor as I went through paring knives and utility knives and X-actos with limited success...then the light bulb over my head lit up and I grabbed my Kershaw composite blade Leek...awesome punkin' carving knife I must say. What's everybody else been using?

Shun Elite paring knife. Thin and sharp.
I've got a few different size pumpkins to work on. Usually draw it out on paper before I start.

Don't y'all know...if you carve your Jak-o-lanterns right now, they'll be nasty and rotten by Halloween?!??!:D

I like to get a few extra pumpkins every year just so I can take out my Claymore, and Katana swords, and go to town on them with my best mall-ninja moves.

Yes it's dorky, but it's damn fun!

...actually, that would be fun, playing highlander/duncan mccloud of the clan mccloud...

I was thinking of using my Case Trapper...to help along the patina haha.

Just yesterday I took our two oldest to a garden center that was having a "pumpkin party." Of course, carving jack-o-lanterns was the highlight of the day. I had my Case yella CV trapper in pocket and it did a wonderful job. At home I usually use a thin-bladed kitchen knife, but the Case did such a great job, it might just be my new official pumpkin knife.

I think I'll use a paring knife with a polished edge, thin lines.

First time celebrating Halloween in 26 years.

Didnt get my pumpkin yet but think I will use my peanut. I like sticking my hands in the pumpkin guts . Takes me back to the good old days. Its fun picking out the seeds too. They make a good snack.

LeftytwoGuns, the OP asked what you carved pumpkins with, not what you use to dispatch those living-dead-zombie-pumpkins with. :D

I use a Schrade 8OT (main & sheepfoot blades, mostly) and a hacksaw blade that I ground down into a point.

thx - cpr
