I'm looking for a knife with a very specific set of requirements:

--liner lock or framelock, app. 4" or 4 1/4" closed.

No slipjoints, please.

--here's the kicker: it has to have a wharncliffe blade, but a specific type: longer and narrow, like the kind of blade found on GEC knives here: http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/817676-GEC-Wharncliffe-Lockback-in-Ebony

Thus, I do not want a:

Kershaw Needs WorK (have it. Great knife)
Blackhawk Be-Wharned
Boker Nopal (a little short, too stocky)
Boker Kalshnikov (an automatic, which s illegal here; plus, I'd like something more rounded. Otherwise, not bad)

I Know I'm being fussy, but that's part of the fun.

Is there anything out there that fits these requirements?

The Kershaw Leek is close. It has a slightly curved tip, but cuts like a beast. I love my Leek.

I just got a Greco Hawkbill. It was extremely reasonably priced, but it's not a flick-to-open blade by any means. it's got some heft, good lockup and centering, but it's difficult to open it one-handed. Might add a thumbstud to it.

I'd love to get a Greco Hawkbill, it's an incredible value. But it's a bit large for my small hands, 4 3/4. I've even talked to him about this on the phone. He occasionally does knives down to the size I want, but he said it was unlikely he'd do that for the hawkbill pattern. I'll keep my eye out, however.

Spyderco PPT.

Edit: nevermind... too wide for OP's criteria. :/ Maybe Kershaw Random Task 2...?

Ah, forgot Spyderco. They have a few Wharncliffe models. Chokwe, Kiwi, P' Kal, Rock Lobster (kind of), and Urban. Yes, I did just go to the Spyderco website and look through their current production models.

I was going to recommend a Kershaw Random Task II but I see it is 1/4 of an inch too long (closed). A great knife for sure if you deal with that extra bit of length.

Perhaps a bit small, but the Sanrenmu 721 is quite a good knife, framelock, very pointy wharncliffe. Very pocketable if the clip is removed.

I have a possibility but it has two major disadvantages: A. I don't know the closed size B. It's not out yet, but maybe the upcoming Spyderco Des Horn?

+1 on the Leek. 4" closed, 2 7/8" blade, 7" open.

It also gives you some different blade steel (14C28N, CPM-D2, S30V) and handle options (aluminum, stainless steel, G10), so you can pick one to fit your tastes/budget.
