I love the feel of the Slimline Trapper in my hand. The long slim handle is great. Disappears in the back pocket too. I just didn't need the blade so long and delicate at the end. I wanted a shorter, stouter blade. I really like carrying and using this knife now! I wanted to get the Victorinox Gardener a while back. I'm glad I didn't because now I have a similar knife but in CV!!! I love that I can pinch it open also.

Thanks! I used a cutoff wheel on a Dremel and a lot of water. Taking real light quick passes. Finished it up with a file. I put the blade in a vise to hold the knife.

Fab job! CASE should start offering one for those of us too nervous to attempt such a radical mod.

Here's something similar:

This is the Copperhead w/Wharncliff (6249W CV), with the clip blade removed, amboyna burl scales, and custom file work.

I've got a half dozen Slimline Trappers now. In fact, my Queen Utility knife (same basic pattern) is currently in my pocket.

That is a nice Copperhead! Thank you guys for your great feedback. I could have made the blade look better but I wanted to leave the most material I could above the handle, so I could still pinch the blade open.

If anyone doesn't have the means to do this mod and really wants one, PM me and send me your Case Slimline. It won't be perfect but it'll be free. It's the least I could do for this great forum!

Buy some cheap (read: imported) slipjoints and practice. and go SLOW. With a bench grinder or Dremel, it's pretty simple to do. I lowered the profile on a large Case Stockman and with the patina it has now, it almost looks factory made.

thx - cpr
