I am something of an admirer of international traditional knives, like the Mercator, or the douk douk. However, what was not usually in the collection were Stockmans, elephant's tonails, sunfishes, and the sort.
Are wharncliffe blades common on these knives as a main blade?

Just off the cuff, I would say that around these parts a wharncliffe main is less common than a sheepfoot, which is less common than a hawksbill, which is less common than a spear or clip. A few trappers and a couple of stockmans have a wharncliffe as long as their clips, such that you could call it a main blade.

I wouldn't call it a main blade, but the old timer 44ot has a small wharncliff, clip point, sheepfoot, and spey
