Sorry for the junky pics, but I tossed the new blade on the W.E. for a little while this evening. 36 degree inclusive. Only went down to 2500 grit wet/dry paper. I decided not to strop because I have been using it pretty regularly at work, and a litte extra shine will be gone soon anyway. Its quite a snappy flipper too!

Nice job man! I love that warnie with the polished edge! I'm going to get that by freehand sometime soon. I like hearing that the knife is going to be put to good use!!

I made it a personal goal to learn to freehand sharpen before I bought a guided system. I worked for over a year on it, and when I was pleased with my end results, I rewarded myself with my wicked edge.

Pre wicked edge, free hand sharpened on dmt course/fine stones, and a spyderco ultra fine bench stone. Also stropped on leather loaded with green compound:

Haha! That was a good goal!! I've been definitely eyeing those WE systems. They're sweet!
But I think I'm holding off til I'm not a rookie freehander like you did.

Your pics inspired me to retouch the edge on my slicer. Nice job! I like a nice mirrored edge on most of my knives but I actually prefer a toothy edge on my slicer EDC. I don't go beyond 600 on that one. A few years ago I sent my XM-24 back to Rick so that he could sharpen it for me. I could spend 2 hours on my W.E. and not even come close to how sharp he can get a knife. My WE can get em hair popping sharp but Rick gets em scary sharp.

Great pictures NCCNC and J 81, love the mirror reflection off the edge. They are so sharp no need to come in contact with what you are cutting, just hold the knife up to something and it just gives up !
