I enjoy a beautiful well executed custom Hunter as much as I do a Bowie though my collection is predominately Bowie and Fighters. There are those who will say Hunters are just stepping stones to Bowie collecting or a lower price alternative to collecting custom knives. Others value Hunters more because they are more useful in today’s modern world than larger Bowies and Fighters.

Folders have always been very popular to customs collectors, probably more so than fixed-blades.

Daggers and Art Knives are very cool in my opinion, however I think most collectors tend to either like them or not.

And then of course, there’s forged and stock removal which many times separate collectors as do tactical knives in not having much collector “crossover”.

Thought a poll would be interesting to see where our interests lie. You can vote for any and all styles that you like and offer your thoughts on which you prefer or don’t.

I never had much interest in fixed blades until I spent the past year on this forum. Thanks to you, Roger, Peter and others, my appreciation for them has sky rocketted and I'm even attracted to them now. My first order or two has been placed! I prefer the look of bowies to hunters, although hunters seem more practical and useable. Most folders I like are the small delicate ones. Recurve blades catch my eye and so do those crazy hamons. I only buy forged now, with the exception of carry knives.

You forgot chutes and boots(fighters), which is neither a bowie, hunter or dagger, in many cases, and my personal favorite, forged OR stock removal.:p:eek::confused::eek::p

Antique style bowies.

As we are only allowed 10 choices I included Fighters with Bowies.

Stilettos too ? ;)

Sport Utility Knives:p.

I'm partial to folders myself, but I have a little bit of everything, and as long as a piece appeals to me, I don't worry too much about its style.

The only things I'm not interested in are hunters and tacticals - but I still have some of each.

I've gotta admit, I can't get over this knife! I must really be liking that Bowie/Fighter style lately.
That knife right there is the kind of design I've been drawing out in my head when thinking about
knives or even those future fixed blade orders (whoever they may be from).

I love this sort of thing obviously.

An example of two different styles of dagger. Ever noticed how JD Smith's sheaths always seem to match his knives so well.
Feel free to post photos of examples of why you like the styles of knives you voted for.

I also don't limit myself to one style or forged vs. stock removal. I am attracted to fine craftsmanship and if something appeals to me that is what matters. I have collections of tools, carvings, and other collectibles but I would say knives are my favorite.

That being said, to me there is no substitute for holding a knife and having the chance to get the feel of it and inspect the workmanship.

Kevin, that J.D. Smith is a gorgeous and Buster Warenski was one of my favorite artists. Julie is amongst the best engravers and her and Curt Erickson are turning out some amazing knives.

Now if I could just hit Powerball...
