Thanks for the info. I didn’t know the early ones didn’t have the Taichung on them. Really thought I either found a rare one or pretty good fake.

I am not an expert, but as far as I can tell it looks legit. I would be really careful buying on eBay unless they have a return policy.

We have two makers in Taiwan. Our Taichung, Taiwan maker wanted to distinguish himself from the other maker so he requested to put Taichung, Taiwan on the knives that he makes for us. He had been working for us for a while before we began that distinction.

I hope you don't mind me asking. Could you name some models the non Thaichung factory make? Are they simply labeled "Taiwan"?

I don't remember seeing any without the Thaichung stamp, and I have a few.
