Assuming you have a favorite knife, and further assuming you lost or broke it and could not get an identical replacement, which knife would replace it as your new favorite? Is it an easy choice?

I could see myself carrying this one every day in the event the nightmare scenario outlined above became reality:

Second favorite… that is a tough one since I can’t really give a definite favorite! There might be a several way tie for second, but this one MIGHT (at least today lol) rise to take the spot:

The pen/sleeveboard pattern is my favorite, and this one an excellent example:)

Reminds me of a Bob Lum Benchmade Deja Vu.

Same or different pattern?

Not being able to get an exact duplicate of anything in my accumulation is a given.
Even my Rough Ryder's of the various series have been discontinued.
Get a duplicate of the two GEC I have?!? Not likely. I haven't seen one for sale, and even if I did, there's no way I could afford it.
The few knives I have that are still in production and are commonly available, I was only able to get thanks to "Uncle Donny's" and "Uncle Joey's" stimulus money.

If same pattern, I'd grab another of my large stockmans, since that is my favorite pattern.

I already have my second favorite pattern (Scout/Camp/Engineer's/Demo knife) on me, since I always pair one with whatever else is in my pocket.

I'm not sure what my 3rd favorite pattern is.
Moose? Canoe? Barlow? I have around 6 or 7 each of those 3.
Large Sunfish? I only have 3, but I am quite fond of the pattern ... I just can't afford to get more of them.

If I lost my 83 Bocote I’d just have to replace it with another 83 😝

I’m pretty sure I learned that from Jolipapa Jolipapa . He’s also the one who originally posted the old pattern illustration as well, in response to questions I had when I first purchased the knife.
Alain is always a great source of information :)

😊️ Most of my knowledge come from Mr Lemasson's fantastic books! 😎

I googled that, and it does seem the Benchmade model you reference was inspired by traditional shepherd’s knives of the Pyrenees (not my images):

The blade shape is sometimes referred to as the “sage leaf”.
Wow that top one-the Cognet with the horn handle- is fine!

i tend to buy two or more of my favorite knives, so i can have one to rock and one to stock, or one to mod and one to keep mint. Of course some knives I havent ever seen a second one really pop up.

I have separate favorites in the collection knives category than I have in the user knives category. My second favorite user knife would be the same as my first, since I have a bunch of them. That being schrade jr cattle knives.

If something were to happen to my shapleigh then old patchy would step up next.

I got an identical replacement for this reason (old pic of Northwoods Presidentials). Would not be an easy choice to replace, maybe 2014 GEC 78 clip and pen.
