Today is my little girl Evelyn's first birthday:D
365 days of utter joy, happiness, love, ear infections, frustration, sleeplessness, ear infections, crawling, rolling, sort of stepping, first foods, ear infections, sippy cups, bath time, ear infections, first words, ear tubes, and absolute elation at the rapid growth and development of the tiny mewing pooping plant the hospital sent us home with into the giggly opinionated little girl that woke up this morning with her typical greeting to me, "dah-dah?" with a cheesy 2 toothed grin framing her ridiculously blue eyes and a finger point in my direction:D

I don't know how or why I got to be such a lucky guy, but I'm having an absolute blast being a dad. Happy Birthday, Evey:D
How'd she go from this:

obviously, I hadn't figured out the whole diaper thing yet. Still dunno where the baby oil goes. She's a girl, and I can't find the dip stick.
To This:

Princess caught red handed getting into things she had been told to leave alone only about 90 times. She's hardheaded. what do you expect, both of her parents are German-Irish.

In a matter of 12 months?
Where did the time go?

And you still have time to post!:D Ah the wonder of parenthood..

Cute kid...Happy Birthday Evey!

Love the name, Steely.

She's a cutie, that's for sure. Enjoy it while you can, eventually they become teenagers and break your heart.

But, at least she didn't have any ear infections. ;)

A happy day, thanks for passing the photos around the Cantina, Steely.
Cheers to the Birthday Girl!

Happy Birthday Little One!
Keep her little as long as you can, Jake! :)

Thanks guys:) We're having a nice dinner this evening, and Mama picked up a good sized cupcake for her to destroy:D
Other great news, my little brother from another mother just got word that he and his better half are expecting their first:D Shhhhhh don't tell anybody. He's dropping the news on his family this weekend. He simply extended the favor to me as he was the first person I told when WE found out Evey was coming along:D

It's been a pretty awesome ride so far:)

Happy Birthday, Evey !!!!!!
Little does daddy realise......the ride has just begun and you arent even warmed up yet. ;)

Congrats on the first year! Sounds like you're enjoying every moment. You ever pick out that pink kukri for her? ;)

~Chris

Happy birthday to the little princess. It just keeps getting better from here....walking on her own, feeding herself, playing with you and becoming her own person...

Jake?

You use up those diapers I sent last year yet?

Need more?

:)
Thanks, Kis, but we're doing OK. I haven't run through them all yet. They say 12-24 lbs on them. It takes a long time for her to fill them that full;)

Oh, and we were still cleaning cake out of places on her this morning. She really got into it;)

Jake, happy birthday to your little one! Last week when I was climbing Mount Nebo, I wondered how old your daughter was and if when she was old enough how I could get you guys out here for a trip. LOL! She's a cutie!

One of these days, Heber. I'd love to get out there and see your neck of the woods. My ideal vacation would be to have about a week out of civilization, to go to a place with incredible natural beauty, and actually be able to see the stars...all of them (not just the bright ones that make through the filtered light of the city and the airport). You can keep the beach:D

She is adorable Jake, happy birthday Evey! I love little kids, they are unpredictably funny and a joy to take care of. I just had my little cousins over for a week, and it was a spectacular week of woodworking, videogame playing, and more (like my cousin Clay trying to beat me up...fortunately he is not strong enough to accomplish such a simple feat as that!) I hope you have fun with your little girl for years to come, dude, and peace.

You can see so many stars around here, especially up the canyons. So many infact that some people get dizzy looking at them if they are not laying down to do it. I took a group of college students to Huntington Reservoir one school year. Some of the students would look at the horizon, tilt their head back and see more stars so they kept tilting their head back till they fell over. LOL!

Please keep us posted with pics and stories of your little one. :)
