A good buddy that I served in the 7th Special Forces Group with gifted me this knife. In the 80’s 7th Group was relocating to a new compound on FT Bragg. While moving there were a few things that didn’t make it to the new location. This knife was one of those things. On the butt of the knife you see 1/7 SF and the blade is marked A721.

My buddy knows I collect a few knives and thought I should have it. The funny thing is, neither of us actually spent time on 721.

Excuse my lack of knowledge, please, but what does A721 signify? A location or duty staction? Thanks, and cool knife.

Each SF company has six teams. Back when this knife was being used there were only four teams per company. The 7 represents 7th Special Forces Group. The 2 represents Bravo Company 1st Battalion. The 1 represents the first of four teams in Bravo Company.

There are 12 team members, so each team would have had 12 Mark 2’s in the books. When I arrived to Charlie Company 1st Battalion in 1991 they were no longer issuing these knives.
