So i pulled the trigger and got a small sebenza...and i love it. It is such an great peice of art.....the problem ... I have been carrying a spyderco sage 1 for about a month....I have really grown to love this sage. It sits in my pocket wonderfully...especially at work (computer programmer so it's at a corporate office). I am finding it hard to carry the sebbie over the sage...i think it has somehting to do with how great the sebbie looks and in the back of my mind I always want it to look that way....i know, lame :) whats a guy to do????

Well, i too work in a corporate high-tech office, and i've had my seb in my pocket for a couple weeks now.
First of all, it doesn't seem to show much wear. just a mild wear around the edges of the slabs, but that actually suites the look of the knife.

Thing is to get over the hump of wanting to keep your sebenza new-looking. I know it sounds dumb, but however good looking it is now, it looks much nicer with a little wear on it.

I'm looking for a used Sage 1 if you want to part with it for trade or sale. PM if interested.

This a feeling that I am familiar with. The best thing you can do is beat it up a little bit. Once you do, it really becomes YOUR knife. The nicks and scratches on the blade add character in my opinion, and it's only once the knife gets its first real blemish that you can finally get over that initial "new" phase of the knife, where its condition is pristine and you don't want to damage it. A Sebenza doesn't want to be a safe queen, it WANTS you to use it and use it hard...

Also, the more you handle a knife, the better it feels in your hand. It becomes second nature to open it, close it, use it, remove it and return it from your pocket, etc. That won't happen unless it's on you and being used every day.

You should post some pics once you scuff it up a little bit!

Only one solution... buy a Sage II... it would be like having the sebbie and the sage in your pocket at the SAME TIME.
