I had one of the best weeks of my life..... Vik showed up last Tuesday and I just put the breakfast dishes from my breakfast with him in the dishwasher..... In between has been a blast---an absolute blast..... I am always amazed that people come from Kansas, Michigan, Canada and as far away, this go round - Vermont!!!.... We had knife a knife blogger or two, a distinguished climbing author from Canada, very skilled artisans in steel, wood, micarta and leather...... Some damned fine cooks, a plastic surgeon, electricians, IT people, a retired Colonel of Artillery, and the list goes on and on..... Oh, and some lawyer from Jersy.......(his kid is ok)......

What do they have in common?...... Knives, tomahawks, axes, swords, usually guns and usually a love of the outdoors........

If I was not in the knife business and I could have put together last week I would have done it in a skinny minute......

We had a lot of laughter, good food, cameraderie of a high order and a sharing of knowledge that was grand to watch and participate in........

One of the great joys of these Gatherings is the organic nature of the enterprise (no, I am not referring to the little house on the range) and by that I mean.... I provide a place, firewood, a shop and the principal protein for two nights and at this point the rest is up to the participants....... And it works.....

We had a number of new folks who seemed to fit right in and are welcome back,

I want to thank all who came and all who contributed....... Eric, Murph, Derek, Allie, Pointy, Kyle, Jordan, Tate.....Thank you for always lending a cheerful hand and anticipating everyone's needs....

I do hope you all had a good time, 'cause I had a wonderful time........

I will close by quoting one of the great philosophers of our time, the most eminent Tradewater:
"It is hard to find an a..hole around a campfire".....

Hurry back....

All best....

Ethan

A big P.S. Unthankful cretin that i am I neglected to thank one very good old friend, Jim Nowka of American Knife Company who donated knives for the give away and a newish friend Dogwood Dan Eastland of Dogwood Knives, who also donated some cool knives.... You need to check them out.....
SOOOO........ THANK YOU!!!!! ..... The reason my memory was jogged about this was me digging thru the mysterious box of bacon which graced the griddle on Sunday and there was a little brown card that I missed during the first and second searches and BINGO..... Thank you John Jaeger for the pile of Benton's Best......

Thank for the great weekend Ethan!! It is always a blast, and always wonderful to get to meet so many people from so many places. I limited my time there this time due to having the little one along, but I think she handled it ok, so this autumn I may just keep her out of school that Friday and head up Thursday to lend a hand.

Ethan this was one of the best weekends I have had in a long time. Bambi took her knife yesterday and asked me how to whittle. She proceeded to carve out a handle on my strop, and didn't do to bad. Thanks again for being a perfect host and dang fine feller

A great time was had, it is hard to beat the environment, folks and sharing.

Always a highlight of the year, Thanks Ethan and everyone who helped make it the outstanding weekend is was. Hope to see you all again next year!

Indeed a great weekend.

Good food, great people, new blades to check out, new techniques to learn, and many laughs.

Thanks to everyone who contributed, most especially Ethan for his limitless hospitality.

Ethan, a few years ago you and I shared a phone call for about an hour with you. You had called me over a Beckerhead contest, we talked like we had known each other for years. I've wanted to come down ever since I've known about it. I'm going to plan on making it next spring if all works out. I've met and camped with Vic before here in MO, and bumped in to Saturated Shadow in a national Forrest one night in complete darkness. I'd like to go this fall, but I believe fall Elk rifle season may be in the way.

I love reading the stories and seeing the pics.

Looks like such a good time.

Best gathering ever! For me anyway lol, since it was only my second. All the Beckerheads are such great folks and I thank everyone for taking me and my girls in and treating us like family. The second time around is even better because I can remember names and faces and such, which I have problems with most of the time. My girls opened up a bit more this time with being familiar with the place, people, process and all that. Every single person is very nice, respectable, and considerate, but at the same time can cuss, yell, and joke around without any feelings getting hurt. The comradery, toys, food and fun keepem coming back.I'm very thankful to everyone who did their part to keep this going. Most thanks go to Ethan for creating such awesome tools that bring us all together and for sharing his place.

I enjoyed seeing everyone again and meeting others for the first time. It's great to come back to the boards and keep up with friends, hope this continues for years to come.

P.S. sorry about your window E... I still feel bad. My wife gave me more greif even though you said "f'n forget about it!" Thanks for being so cool!

Had great time and had the opportunity to meet some epic people, thank you Ethan for putting it to gather.

one of these days, my life won't be so chaotic anymore and i can "head back".

or do the west coast.

but the northeast is coming up...

Even though my time with the merry madmen (and women) was brief on Saturday it was a much needed anodyne for an "interesting" past few months. Thanks to E and all the others there for the much needed respite. Murph, thanks for hauling me and so many others up and down the hill. Brian, I hope it holds up and provides years of service (but don't scratch the finish!). Vic, the finger's doing fine. Thanks for the light as well as the heat. James, a kind word is always appreciated, but yours delivered with such wonderful timing...especially so. To little Jesse, improve upon that sheath. To everyone else not mentioned, well met! Wallace, wish you'd been there, you crazy SOB. You shall not be forgotten.

Had a blast - got home around 9 last night - the trip home took a bit longer than the trip there due to fatigue, weather, and construction.
Hard to believe we had close to 50 people up on the Ridge Saturday evening.

thanks again for the hospitality, E!

Other than Ethan, I'm not even going to try to specifically list all the people I should thank. You know who you are :)

Stop saying stuff like that... I have a reputation to uphold :grumpy:

Thanks for being a great host, Ethan!

My wife and I had a great time!

I met so many of my fellow beckerheads I'm never going to be able to remember all your "real" names haha

I very much hope to make it to the next gathering!

Jealous of you all - sounds like so much fun and informative. You should get round to doing an England (old world)/UK gathering, that would be great! (Even if extremely unlikely)

But for this forum with other fellow beckerheads it's not hard to see what amazing service with a smile knife owners get - I cannot think of any other company this close and friendly to their customer base.

I was honored and flattered to be included in the gathering last week end. It was my first time up there, I never have had a group of people make me feel so welcome. They say you can judge a mans worth by the company he keeps Ethan Becker is truly priceless. I learned, I laughed, I eat, I drank, and I meet like mined people I can not think of better way to spend a week end.

Ethan, this was a truly wonderful weekend that could not have happened without your incredible hospitality. It's always such a pleasure to see you and everyone else at these gatherings.
