What a motley crew!

Spent the afternoon sharpening some of my knives that needed touching up. This consisted of a Blackjack Trailguide and Model #5, a 10" Ontario tanto, a Columbia River STIFF K.I.S.S, Benchmade mini-AFCK and mini-Stryker, a 1960's Case 2 blade jack, a Buck Creek small stockman, a Kelgin stag and damascus bird & trout and my large Sebenza. I never really paid attention to the broad array of knives that I actually use enough to sharpen, and this was only what needed to be sharpened at the present time. Needless to say, my wife is going to wonder what the hell happened to all the hair on my arms! Have any of you guys experienced such diversity in your knives when you finally set down to sharpen? If a stranger walked in, I am sure they would have thought me just a little touched in the head.

It's only a mistake if you fail to learn from it!

However if a fellow knifenut walked in they would be awed with your motley crew and want to handle and admire each one, and offer an opinion of what you need next.
Life is great, huh?

And I bet each of your motely crew has a story to tell.
That's what I enjoy @ polishing/sharpening time...which ones bit me, which cleaned what fish, camping trips gone by...
Ebbtide out. (with a wistfull sigh)

I agree with Ebbtide. Going through my knife box is always a trip. Each one pulls up a specific memory, like hearing an oldie on the radio. You just happen to associate it with a certain snapshot of time.

Think I'll go turn on the oldies station, open the knife box and get lost for a while.

Motley crew it is....besides the 'new loves' there are those at the bottom of the box or relegated to other honorable places. Trips thru time no doubt, and reminiscent of memorable times and events, including an old derelict of a Western sheath blade. Blackened stained blade still in good shape, but leatherwashered handle long ago departed from hard use of 35+ yrs ago. Many memorable camps and hunts of youth, including a 2week canoe only trip down the Suawanee/SantaFe/Itchatuknee rivers of N. Florida, twas heaven on earth, pity the clock only moves forward. Many finer knives in the box, but none richer.

Are those guys still playing live shows? I heard Vince left the band...

Sorry....couldn't resist...
