When I got home from work I had a little package waiting for me ...

It was the Chesapeake Bay Knife Club Khukuri. Remember that one? Well, it's a little gem. Now I'm 1 Khukuri payment behind.

What a nice surprise. Thursdays are always tough. Too much work and it's not Friday yet.

Thanks Uncle Bill. Shop 2 is turning out some special Khukuris for us.

Me too!

I just received my "Chesapeake Bay Knife Club" Khukuri...it is a very pleasant surprise! To tell you the truth, I had completely forgotten about ordering this little knife and I was completely baffled to receive a box this small from Himalayan Imports (my first thought was "surely the Ganga Ram Special has to be bigger than this!"). This is really a neat little knife...I'm usually not a fan of miniature "cutesy" items, but an inspection of the CBKC khuk left no doubt that this is a robust, functional knife. Fit and finish are excellent, even in comparison to my larger HI blades. If this is an example of the quality that is being produced by Shop Two, I'm even more anxious than before to receive the Ganga Ram and Millennium Special Khukuris!

I may have to carry this little khukuri in my briefcase for a few days...it's bound to create quite a stir the next time someone in my office wants to borrow a knife to cut the cake at a party...

Thanks Bill, and please convey my best wishes and appreciation to Pala, Yangdu and all of the folks in Nepal who make it possible for us to enjoy these marvelous blades!

Mine just showed up today as well. Bob is right -- it is a little gem. The knife itself has great fit & finish and is actually shaving sharp. The scabbard is also nicely done but, IMO, would benefit from having thicker leather for the frog.

As to the chakma & karda, why even bother when they're this small? They're cute but hardly functional at ~3" OAL. Besides, mine seem to refuse to stay in the scabbard.

I may be goin' to hell in a bucket, Babe, but at least I'm enjoyin' the ride.

I think I missed the boat on this one. What is the Chesapeake Bay Knife Club Khukuri? Is there a pix somewhere? The thought of not knowing the entire H.I. product line is killing me.

:
Julian you sure did,but maybe Uncle ordred some extra,I don't know.
This one isn't in the regular line up,but I think it should be.
It is a wonderful little ladies knife and just right to slip in a pocket too.

This was a special order that had several takers. It was done back in June.I think the 21st.is what I have in my log book.Mine is 9 & 1/8"
from point to top of butt cap & 9 & 3/8" from tip to tip.It is 1 & 1/4" wide. The scabbard has a brass fitting around the top of it that is 1" wide.Kinda sets the whole thing off.

I got mine in with the 27" Banspati.
Talk about the long and the short of it.

My fe-mailman has been having this strange look on her face when she delivers the boxes from H.I.
I asked her if she wanted to see one of these, thinking it might be my Ganga Ram.I opened it up and we ooohed and aahhed over tha Banspati ( I said something about the pronunciation of Kami and said it was like the Cherokee (a) and she said,"Yes,I understand." I think I have another Cherokee mail deliverer.) and then I looked in the box and here was a little something wrapped in bubble wrap.It was the CBCK.
She was quite impressed with both of them.

This little Khuk was razor sharp right out of the wrapping!!

If the dayum-ed board was working like it shouid I would go back and see who was having problems with the karda & chakma being loose.

This might help.
I had two problems with my scabbard.
The Khukuri was very, very tight.I thought."Now how am I going to loosen this one." It was easy.I took the karda from my 18"AK and stuck it in along side the little Khuk and then another thin blade in along with it also.I kept working with like that it until it was just right. It seems the brass will stretch some too.

The other problem was the little tools.I found that the tacks used are the same as for big scabbards and one was sticking way up.I tried to get it on through, but the Khuk was interfering with it.I removed it and super glued the little piece of leather down.Problem solved.
Hope that helps.

Khukuri FAQ

Uncle Bill,
Hope the blankety-blank server is fixed so I can finally add my thanks to the chorus for the unexpected but extremely welcome CBKC Shop 2 version. (The check is in the mail-really!

). Certainly is proof of the great strides that have been made in terms of finish since my serial No. 1 was made!

I think the wide brass band on the scabbard is not only very handsome but also an excellent safety feature - any chance of ordering such a scabbard as an option on full-sized khukuris in the future?

Thanks for the tip regarding the tacks, Yvsa. I pulled them, super glued the rings back in place, and the little tools now fit fine.

As I mentioned to Mizutani in another thread,
nailheads inside the chakma & karda pockets have scratched some of my handles. When I have the time, I'll probably pull all such nails & glue the rings back in place to avoid further handle damage.

Rusty, I also owe you a somewhat belated thank you. Your tip about using tongue depressors to loosen up scabbard fit as required has also worked out really well.

Uncle, not that I have any money for more knives, but could you please post a picture of the Chesapeake knife. I went searching for some pictures of it awhile ago, but never found any. Thanks.
