Im loving my new SG2 JYDII. I never knew the hollow grind was so thin, and this is without a doubt the sharpest production knife I've ever had come out of the box.

Question for those who have one already...is it typical for the grind line of the SG2/440 on the back side of the blade to be asymmetrical to the face of the blade?

The front grind line is perfect distance from the edge to the "steel line" but on the back the 440 gets pretty close to the edge near the pivot...

If you are referring to the laminate line, there generally is some variation, just a result of the manufacturing process for that steel. It should have no effect on performance and you have the added benefit that every one of the knives is unique.

I have one as well and LOVE IT!!! Had a buddy swedge and mirror polish it :D As for the laminate line, it does drop down about the middle of the choil area.

.

I have two because I think they are the best buy in Ti framelock knives.
The laminate line on my edc one is terrible looking on the front side, but I still love it.
The grind lines are perfect.:thumbup:

Min is as you described. I use mine for EDC and not only is it the sharpest knife I have out of the box it is so easy to keep razor sharp. I also bought a spare and may actually buy a 3rd just in case.

I have a couple SG2 JYD II's, and the lines are different on both knives. I believe it's perfectly normal.

Mine is pretty decent and almost looks exactly like that on the back.
Then again, this one was hand picked by Thomas for his contest I won. ;)

J, the line on mine is different side to side. I don't think it makes a bit of difference. You'll love the SG2!

Now for grins, get one of the first run ENER-G II's and reprofile it to about 8 degrees per side. I know its not SG2, but man, that hollow grind thinned out is one of the best slicers you will find!

Congrats on the great pick up!

I have the one of the brown anodized SG2 Blurs on the way...does it have a really thin hollow grind as well?
