I went out for a stroll around my parents property so I could give my NMFBM a workout and to try out a new Hawk I just aquired. And what do I find, A tree laying across the trail. It was time to "Bring It"! :D

The Hawk was made by Vector at http://hawks.equinoxcoronado.com/

This has to be the best hawk I've ever handled. Solid as a rock yet it doesn't beat you to death when doing a little chopping. I had him use a CS Trail Hawk head for this one. The synthetic handle that he has created is awesome. This newest generation handle (Gen 1 Mk 4) has a built in storage compartment. Nice for some little survival neccessaties. This particular one has the handle drilled the full length for more storage room, or could possibly be used as a blow-gun.

This is the part of the story where the battery goes dead in the "Fun Camera". :(

Luckily I also had my pocket camera with me to finish the story up with.

I usually don't do a lot of chopping with my Hawks but I like to see what they'll do everyonce in awhile. This one was amazing during the task at hand. The handle absorbed alot of the shock. It really performed well with little to no effort involved.

Now for the NMFBM.

I really didn't go out with the intention of comparing these two to each other. They both have there specialties. I don't feel either one was created to compete with the other. I would rather work with the NMFBM and, if I had to, fight with the Hawk. Since there were no zombies wandering around at the time of this adventure, I was only able to find work.

Like stated before, the Hawk did work great. It really sunk in and took nice size chunks out. Little effort was needed and I would not feel under prepared if it was all I had. I am very happy with it.

With that being said. The NMFBM, well, do I really even need to say anything. :D

The NMFBM is really just that good. It sank in and ripped chunks out and screamed for more. The Fusion grip is awesome. It really felt great in the hand.

Both the NMFBM and the Hawk were a pleasure to use. Each have their own place for different tasks and do them well. If I'm being attacked by a tree, I'll grab the FBM. If I'm being attack by a zombie, I'm grabbing the Hawk.

Cool pics! It's always nice when the trees cooperate like that. :D

I like that Hawk. What's the handle length?

I went with a 19" handle. I had originally thought about going with a 24" but after playing around with my other hawks I decided that a 19" suited me best.

hey, brother - i completely agree - a long knife is the natural brother to a good hawk, and vice versa IMHO.

i add a folding saw and a chisel and SAK or multitool, and pretty much call her done.

good thing we don't have to choose!

that said, i think that beautiful Busse would go well equally in the field, or with some of my style of hawk combatives. i had a buddy that said that's why God gave us two hands - so we could hold a weapon in each one. :D - i'll take any excuse i can get, to buy more sharp stuff....

i am just totally stoked to see my stuff next to a Busse. :o

(ol' vec checks his pulse and pinches hisself.)

anyways, i love that knife - i gotta make me a grabby-handle-thingy to try on one of those....

(grabby-handle-thingy; that's a technical term.)

....don't forget to stick your pen light in the one of the open ends of that hawk to use as an area light at night when you are whittling with that NMFBM. :D

thanks for including the hawk with that gorgeous bush sword, brother.

great, now i am jonesing for a new Busse - you guys suck. :D:thumbup:

some buddy bulldog brother jerry into making some hawk heads for me to put a cool composite handle on ...har! - sorry, i am shameless, 'had to try... hehehe...!

Great Pics. I really love Vectors Hawks. That is a good combo. I have a rifleman's hawk (only old fashioned hickory handles) to take out with my FBMLE. I use the hawk for throwing mostly, and am pretty deadly with it out to reasonable distances. It is so much fun, and one with a sweet custom handle package would be even sweeter.

Nice to see a mistress getting used properly! I'm dying to get out on the trail for a couple of days...

Looks like a perfect size.

Nice Hawks, Vector. I gotta add one to the list...

And now I'm set with the best of both.

I'm going to have to start working out though. As it stands now, if the shtf, I'm going to be running around out there lugging the NMFBM, an ASH-1 LE, a SHBA, and your hawk. Ok, maybe I won't be running. :D

Oh there have been quite a few pleads for Jerry to make some hawk heads out of Infi. MAN would it be sweet if you two could partner up for a Hawk release. An Infi hawk head and one of your handles. Ya'll would have the market on lockdown!

Not familiar with Vector Hawks, and that custom handle, could you direct me to the proper location for drooling?!
