My wife told me that I can buy another knife as my anniversary present. So, now the question is which one. I am an urban person, so the knife isn't likely to see much time in the woods. I'm thinking of a knife to keep in the car. As background, I already have an Izula and HEST, so I'm thinking of the 3 or 4. Your thoughts?

If you are already thinking 3 or 4, for a leave-in car knife I'd suggest a 4. I'm not sure what your plans are for it, but a 4 in a BOB for your car would be ideal. Good length and thickness for any survival situation IMO

I guess the 4 would not be a bad choice at all. Having said that the 3 is a great little knife too. Oh it's too hard, why choose?

Good luck mate :)

For a car I'd vote the 5, will help you get out of the car or get others out of their car in an emergency.

The izula and hest are so similar in many ways, and the RC-3 blade length is also similar. I say go for the 4, it's a different beast. However, if it was me, I'd go for the 5.

Since you're thinking between 3 and 4, I'll say 4. But I agree on the 5 thing

I agree that if it is to saty in the car I would go for the 3 MIL or the 5 just to have the glass breaker on the end

For the car the 5 is the best bet. Why? For one thing, it's a little heavy, so you're not gonna EDC it on your person , so it's perfect for emergency use sitting in the car or truck. Out of all the Esee knives you want to have on you in an emergency ( egress from a vehicle , prying, windows , etc.) the 5 is tops. Best glassbreaker ,thickest pryer, still a great cutter. I keep one under my Jeep seat. It was originally designed as a downed pilot's knife. That's what makes it the best "vehicle" survival knife ,Imo.

Yup 5. You have a Hest. Blade is pretty close to a 3. A 4 would be a little better. But a 5 is good. Nice to have a big knife. Unless you want to keep in a certain budget?

if it will mainly will ride in the car why not an ESEE3MIL

+1

Glass-breaker would be great for the car - also, its easy enough to EDC if you'd like to switch it up.

Its my most used knife altogether out of all I own... that piece of 1095 gets more use than my INFI :D

Then when you have your RC3mil, I'd sell your HEST and put the funds towards a ESEE-6 - then all your bases are covered ;)
