I for one would be interested. I believe this steel is already being used in some nice kitchen knives no? Would anyone else be interested in a nice Spyderco kitchen knife with a laminated hap40 blade?

Interesting.

I had been looking at what other Japan knives there are that might match up.

How about a Lum Tanto in HAP40

Can you imagine if they brought back the Lum tanto in HAP 40! That could be a grail...

I've already been considering a HAP40 Japanese kitchen knife. Expensive though. A Syderco option would be great.

Or maybe the Marcin Slysz SpyderChef.
HAP40, 4ish inches or so.
Yes, except that will more than likely be a Taichung Spydie. So a SpyderChef in CPM REX45 is in store[emoji1]

I looked very seriously at the offerings of kitchen knives in HAP40.

I still hope they'd atleast just do a HAP40 Mule Team!

But I am up for anything they can put it in to!

I know it's not a kitchen use knife, but wasn't there light talk of the possibility of a Japanese Sprint steel getting worked into the Temperance 2?

The cooks knife does looks great.

It might be cool and spyderco is my favorite folding knife brand but I would still buy a Kohetsu or Gihei first.

Why use that steel? The high hardness? If you share your kitchen with other people, you generally want a steel that holds an edge but is relatively easy to sharpen. I like the MBS26 they use now.

It doesn't get much easier to sharpen and touch up than HAP40. Plus it will hold an edge a lot longer than MBS26. Not bashing what they use, but a hard heat treat does not exclusively equal hard to sharpen.

I would love to have one, but my wife will leave it in a dirty and rusted mess when I look the other way. I quite like MBS26, and my wife has not been able to destroy one yet in the last 6 months.
