What about a Super Sebenza?

What does everyone think about a 3.75" or longer blade with both blade and scale being 5/32". Kind of fighting the trend of miniturization.

One of the reasons I didn't buy my Sebenza sooner was beacause I wanted it to be bigger. I love the one I have but I would love to see a 4".

I recently picked up a large, and I love it. I also think that it is plenty big enough for a folding knife. If I want something larger, I will get out one of my fixed blades, which is also stronger than my Sebbie, and use it.

goat,
What a great idea! Sure a large Sebenza can do just about anything you ask of it but there are a lot of "mega folder" lovers out here. Ask REKAT if they're sorry they finally made a Sifu after Jim March's prodding. They're selling lots of them. I have all the mega folders. I own a Darrel Ralph Mad Max because of it's sheer size, quality and it has the intregal lock. Chris would probably never do it but I'll bet a 50 piece run of 4 1/2"-5 1/2" blade Sebenzas would sell out fast. That's what loving knives is all about. To hell with practicality sometimes. A "giant" Sebenza makes more sense to me than a $2,500.00 art knife that folks are afraid to touch much less use. Anybody that thinks this is a great idea, chime in here. Sign me up!

Chris has said he will not make a folder with a blade over 3.5 inches.

RGray: I'm sure that about a year a go blade lenght was announced to be 3.63 inch or 3.6xx inch.

So I went and looked my old wish list (excel file) that has all important facts about my future knives. I had catalogued Large Sebenza to be 9.2 cm long (I do converse imperials to SI units) that is 3.62 inch (official conversion coefficient 2.54 cm/inch).

So my memory was wrong by 1/100 inch ( I'm soo good

) but what does this mean? Are new large benzas smaller than older ones or do CRK measure now the edge lenght and did they use to measure the blade lenght?

What did we learn from my ramblings - nothing I guess. Fact remains that they did folders with blades longer than 3.5 inch.

...the point being that CRK does not plan on making a folder larger than the Sebenza. Clear enough?

stjames,
Thanks for making it "Clear Enough" about what CRK will or will not do! I'm sure CR will sleep better knowing that you have settled this issue for them once and for all.

And to everyone else,
Please stop useing these public forums to let the manufacters know what you would like to see them build for you.
Everyone knows they don't want feed back, and would never want to know what the buyers want to buy from them.
And besides that, You are always upsetting the forum Police. You know, the ones that get so upset that YOU might want some thing other than what is being produced.
You see, when you want some thing different, they feel it's their duty to do what they can to make sure you don't get it.
They say things like , Oh that's dumb, I can do every thing I want with what I have, why would anyone want more?
"I mean, "OH, MY GOD""

I wish people would let others just plainly state what they would like, and let those that HAVE the power be the one's to say YES or NO.

The ones who "have the power to say yes or no" often use these forums and others like them to help decide whether or not to go ahead with a new design or make a modification to an existing one.

Responses and comments from the folks who post here represent the opinions and ideas of the very heart of the knife buying/collecting/using community. Where else would they go to get a feel for the response and reception they would receive from the people who are most interested in their products? Think about it.

Tommi,
The "new" style Sebenza does have a blade that is a tiny bit shorter than the "original" now Classic style. Only in the large size though. If you compare a Large Sebenza with a Large Classic (or one of the originals) the blade profiles are even a little different.

Boy, this thread is starting to remind me a little of the old forums where if you said anything about Mad Dog knives, you were a heretic. I couldn't agree with Dennis more. Who cares if Chris won't make something or other. It's fun to make suggestions and dream a little. Like I stated in my post, if Jim March and others hadn't bugged REKAT incessantly, the Sifu would have never been born. I'm sure Chris wouldn't have made the 9" one pieces if folks hadn't prodded him. I also said I didn't think Chris WOULD make a giant Sebenza but it's fun to think about. I've met Chris and he's a super guy but is also a business man. If folks clamored enough about something, I'm sure he would THINK about it. My Darrel Ralph Mad Max, (which came about through forumites requests), is a jewel and pleases me to no end but a giant Sebenza IS FUN to consider. I'm sure James didn't mean any offense by his "sort of rash" reply but 1whobuys, don't sweat it my friend. You have the right to offer any suggestion you want on these forums and don't worry what others think. Like Dennis said, some of the best ideas, (AND worst), have come from these forums, whether they seem ridiculous or not. Custom makers and production companies have sometimes "jumped" on these ideas. Dream and suggest on! I'm going to. I'm sure at the very least it'll give Chris a reason to shake his head and smile.

You are quite welcome, but I am just repeating what CRK has stated numerous times. I could suggest that you use the ever-popular search feature, but don’t strain yourself.

Whether the large Sebenza has a blade a little longer than 3.5 inches is irrelevant, so you can put the micrometers away. This is the largest size Chris is comfortable applying the integral lock to.

As for a 4” automatic Sebenza in Talonite, ask all you want. Just don’t hold your breath or bet the farm on it happening.

The blade on my large Sebenza is exactly 3.5 inches, but I don't think we should split hairs.

The large Sebenza isn't getting any larger.

Maybe try the Dozier Workhorse. I'm not promoting them, but it is HUGE! I was caught between a rock and a hard place deciding whether to get the sebenza or the Dozier ingegral when I bought my sebby. I'm

Yeah Walt. A litle off topic but those were actually good ol' raucous, bawdy times. I remember Earl offered to set up a fight between me and Kevin. Kevin and I got a GOOD laugh about that. Seems Earl and Kevin were the ones in the end that "got it on".

Hey James, maybe we can get Chris to make a giant, Talonite bladed Sebenza AUTOMATIC!
