What about Knives of Alaska?

Does any body know whats the deal with Knives of Alaska? Bass Pro doesn't sell their knives anymore, but WalMart.com does. My sister, who lives near their plant in Texas, says their parking lot is only half full, where in past years it was hard to find a parking spot. She says a neighbor told her production was way down from past years. Is it the ecomony or quality? I called them a couple of years ago about rust on the blade of my KOA knife. The production manager told me I probably had acid skin and where I touched blade would rust. Does that make sense?

As to the rust, it is possible. I have a friend who simply cannot own a blued firearm as wherever he touches the metal WILL rust shortly.

As to the company, they probably grew too fast for their limited market (just opinion)and I do recall less than stellar reviews/comments.

I wish Charles would bring out a survival/tactical/Bowie in his DBK line. I would like to think it would be a winner. I have a couple of his KOA line and three of the DBK. I find to be of excellent quality with the DBK the tops of the cutting of what I have used and witnessed.

you are crazy, they make some of the best "usin" knives out there , fot those of us that really use one for somthin besides choppin 2by4s , like commercial hunting , where my busse will lose its hair poppin edge on the first cut

I own a bush camp model in D2. The handle is extremely comfortable and the design is excellent. For the $100 I paid for it I would consider it a good value.

Now that is trolling :D:D:D:D

I am new here but have an opinion. I own a couple of these and they are OK for the money. I imagine the economy is hitting them the way it will hit all of us. As much as I would like to see quality products like Busse be isolated from this- it is doubtful. One can only hope. At any rate the KOA line is about average in my opinion-Thank You

Actually, I find KOA a very good knife and value, my KOA D2 blades hold a very good edge. KOA does continue to sell to BassPro but not all BassPro shops carry his line. Sells for KOA knives are doing very well with my understanding with my conversation with Charles a couple of weeks ago. The new featherlight hunter he sent me is my favorite EDC knife and the D2 blade holds an outstanding edge. Now what the future holds for anyone is in question with the economic strain on our country?
