What about Left Handers in a large Sebenza

I'd really like to buy my first Sebenza from one of the better online shops. However, I'm not seeing very many left handed knives. The one I did find was plain jane. I'd like something a little fancier if I'm going to keep it for a long time.

Do I really need a left hand version, or would a right handed, dual thumb stud work for me?

Sorry for such a newbie question, but I don't want to expend the cash for such a great knife if it won't work for me.

Thanks for the help

I had to special order both my large & small lefthanded sebenza's through a US dealer.

They do tend to take ages to come through, measured in months rather than weeks I'm afraid.

However if you arer spending this sort of dosh on a knife you ought to get what you really want and just have to wait for it.

A couple of the online dealers do have lefthanded models in stock but I have only ever seen plain ones. You could always buy one of these and order a unique graphic slab from CRK or send it in and they can do a silver contrast graphic to an existing knife.

Thanks for the tip on sending a purchased left hand model back for an upgrade. That might be my best bet if I don't want to wait.

Thanks, I'm happy to see that there are a least a few left hand Sebenza loving folk out there.

I purchased a small, double thumb lug, unique, with a stainless damascus blade. It just looked so good! Hopefully the double thumb lug will work for me for the time being.

Neil at TrueNorth pointed out that most shops won't stock fancy Reeve knives for lefties because personal taste is so hard to predict.

I'm once again a month out from payday, so I'll be getting back to those that that kindly offered a large, left handed Sebenza from their collection.

I may be wrong about this since I haven't handled a left handed knife, but you may have a problem other than the dual thumb studs. If you get a right handed knife with dual thumb studs, won't the knife still have the lock on the left side of the handle? Will this make it easier or harder for you to unlock the blade with your left hand? I guess the real question is do left handed knives have the lock on the right side or is the lock on the same side as a right handed knife?

I know that I am confused now.

Left handed knives have the lock on the opposite side of a right hander so that you can open it and close it with your left hand. A southpaw could open a right hand knife but it would be very tricky to close the knife with the left. I tried doing the right hand thing and it didn't work for me. I would order from CRK and get what you want. One of the reasons that I like CRK so much is that they are left hand friendly.

I can do most things with my right hand, I even shoot with my right hand (that is one thing my dear old dad insisted on for good reasons).

I just can't get used to manipulating a blade with my right hand when fine control is needed. Of course sometimes lefties can gain a little advantage Many, many years ago I took fencing lessons and my right hand opponents were usually thrown by my left handed attacks until they adapted somewhere in the middle of the match.

I usually open a right hand folder with my right hand and pass it over to my left hand.

I've pretty much concluded that I've got to get myself some lefty Reeve knives or I'm not got to get the full benefit of Mr. Reeve's fine design.

So I take it not many lefties are satisfied by compensating, one way or another.

Thanks for all of the help.

What do you think about it, could it be something?

I´ve done in PhotoShop, it´s a regular one.

I just flip it and then I try to get the logo nice
but it don´t went out nice so I erase it. That
looks great too without the logo.
