Now I use "Calypso Jr." as every-day-carry knife, but (nothing is perfect 'cause nobody is perfect

I would like to have more belly at edge, clip on the rear and liner lock.

It seems me, that it looks like small or medium version of "Military". I can propose name for such product: "Military Jr." or "Cadet Lightweight"

Sal, what about my proposition ?

Best regards,

I think a prototype of a small Military has been made. It's been talked about here before so you might want to search past threads. I'm not sure if it will actually go into production though.

At first, I didn't know if a Military Jr. would be such a good thing. I like the large Military so much that I'd hate to see its design messed up. But after thinking about it, I have to admit that something Calypso Jr. size with belly and a liner lock would be great. If the knife could retain the essential characteristics of its big brother's handle and choil, it would be very impressive indeed.

I personally think a smaller version of the Military would be a big seller. I do,however,
feel that for me I would like to see a better blade to handle ratio. The handle of the Military has perfect rounded contours but I would like to see it downsized. Benchmade had the right idea to offer 2 Axis sizes however the small version IMHO is too small. A smaller Military in the size range of a Calypso Jr. would be perfect!!

Smaller than Military, Good belly, linerlock, Sounds like a Wegner Jr. to me. If you can still find one.

Not quite a junior. Sal had posted a while back that a reduced size is under development. He indicated that it was a Military with both ends slightly reduced, smaller blade and smaller handle. Bravo, as it would definitely fit my hands a bit better as I do not use my current Military with gloves on, which was a big consideration during its design period. I would hope that the opposite scale is cut out as well and the liner reduced so a nice choil (groove)is provided for the forefinger to lock on to.

Nakanois correct and it is still planned for testing this year. Cannot improve the handle to blade ratio and still keep the choil. Please keep in mind that "handles are for holdng and blades are for cutting". The ratio is only relevant to the eye. Think of a scalpel.

The Miliary Jr. feels the same in the hand as the larger version. Just raises fewer eyebrows. It is however, a much "larger" knife than the Calypso Jr.

As "Military recruit," I can definitely stand to get a smaller one.
