Hello,

I have been far from the Forums since one year ago so I have not any news about the Bram Frank's CRIMPT.

I live in Spain where all the folders/blades are forbidden for daily carry and this is why I'm very interesting in the CRIMPT.

I told this to Bram one year ago but he was not able to tell me when the CRIMPT will be avaliable.

Do you know any news? Is it now avaliable?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Best Wishes from Spain,

OSvaldo

Hola Osvaldo. The current plan is to make them for Bram as an exclusive model.

sal

Sal?, Sal Glesser?

Are you Sal Glesser?.... really, believe me, I'm very proud to be "speaking" with you... :)

What exctly did you mean with "to make them for Bram as an exclusive model"?. Do you mean that Bram will be the only distributor? or, do you mean that only Bram will have this folder for its seminars?...
Sorry but my english is not as good as I would like... :(

As I have told you in my first topic, all kind of folders are forbidden in spain, but I have thought that a blunt blade would be a good compromise betwen the law and the self-defense tool.
Anyway I'm interesting to buy one of this CRIMPT's if it is posible. Now I'm carring a CoPilot or a Cricket due to it is the short blades Spyderco have (I'm fall in love with your Spyders :) )

Thanks a lot for your help.

Believe me, spain is a country that, in general, "hates" the blades... here, a very few people knows Spyderco and less enough knows who is Sal Glesser. I am proud to own one First Production Gunting number 350 and now I have been talking with Sal Glesser.... believe me, Internet is GREAT!!!!

Best Wishes from Spain,

OSvaldo

That is correct. I believe that BRAM intends to limit availability to law enforcement and related fields.

Carlos,

you have wrote:

"...to limit availability to law enforcement and related fields."

Can we be included in the "related fields" pool???

When do you think the CRIMPT will be avaliable (to Bram)?

Thanks for the help.

Here's a direct quote from Bram:

There will be no CRMIPT for the general public.
It is an LEO and LEO community related tool.
If you fit in any of the categories that were previously listed, then you have a chance in the upcoming future of getting a CRMIPT.

Honestly, I don't know when they plan to begin producing them.

a dumb q' maybe, but why only LEO's?? (i'm a LEO so no biggie for me, but, unless ya live in a place w/laws against blades, why would ya want one, unless your a prison guard, and poo on that, no offense)

Hello,

Sifu, I think like you. I live in a country with a VERY restrictive laws against the blades... well, VERY restrictive means that even our laws allows us to carry small blades, the real situation is that we CANNOT carry it in public places.... so I cannot carry a small folder in the streets.... and small folder means, for exemple, a Cricket....
Stupid laws mades with the ass!

This is why the CRIMPT would be PERFECT for me, in Spain....

From my MAD Spain, best wishes,

OSvaldo

Ditto Sifu. I used to have a Gunting and a drone; got rid of both of them PARTLY because I figured a CRMIPT would be the best of both worlds.

I'll accept that they're not going to be available, no problems, it's Bram's design and Bram's decision -- but I'd like to know why, if it's possible.

(edited to uppercase PARTLY, since it seemed like following posts had missed that word -- left as is, it appears to contradict other posts where I mentioned the other reasons that I got rid of my Gunting)

Hey guys..sorry I was away teaching..just got home...
ROFL...bad move to get rid of your Gunting & a Drone..especially waiting on something in the future..lke holding your breath under water betting you make it to the other side before you need air..but that's your call..
You guys want an impact tool???use a Drone..that's what its there for..really..you can use it for training & for Impact Tool usage./
Its a cool red color and its easy to use...

The CRMIPT tool is for LEO only..
All of you guys wanting an impact tool I'd advise you to do as I do..Carry a Drone..I do not carry a live blade as EDC right now.. I carry a Drone..
Restrictive blade laws?? Carry a Drone..
There's no problem in the general public world using a training tool as an Impact tool.. In the LEO world there is..
a trainer cannot do dual duty as a working tool..and there are modifications to make it unsafe for training..
Geeee, that means EVEN if you could get one you still neeed a Drone to train with..

It is LEO restricted after consultation with many agencies..
It will state so on the blade..LEO-only...

Sooooo If you want an impact tool..don'tt wait...call up your local Spyderco Dealer and order a Drone..its the only impact tool version of the Gunting you'll get...and its available right now..no waiting..

Be safe!!!

Hi Bram,

you are right, in my case, "blade restrictions?,carry a drone.".. yes, you are right ... but this not means in Spain, a CRIMPT will be subjected to the blade restrictions due to our laws talk about the point of the blade... I mean a Blunt sharpenned blade "maybe" not legislated... that's why I often carry a Spy Rescue Jr...

No problemo, only for LEO's , but think that a lot of people will continue dreaming with your CRIMPT...

:(

From Spain and its mad laws,

OSvaldo

Osvaldo: I think you got a CRMIPT wrong..its the Drone blade in the live handle..
theres no blade with an edge..its not a live blade with no edge..its a sharper handled drone...
no point, no edge..no cutting..
And a Drone is NOT a knife and you can carry it in Spain.
Been through all this with officials of various countries while @ MILIPOL..no cutting edge..no point for thrusting..never designed to cut..it can't be a knife..
theres no translation problem there..
a Drone is not a knife..by design its NOT A KNIFE..by INTENT its not a knife and all the semantics in the world will not make it one..
the blade profile is not that of a Gunting..
its a specifically designed training blade..& training tool and one that can be used as an impact tool..
If you can carry a CRMIPT,you can carry a Drone, which is milder to carry..
and neither are knives..
the Gunting IS A KNIFE..and its sharp and it cuts..
I hope this translates correctly..
OK????

Bram

Hello Bram,

thanks for the clarification.

I have been long time far away from the Forums and I have lost a lot of news.

I remember that in the begin of the Gunting/CRIMPT/Drone family project, the CRIMPT idea was that it have the same blade that the Gunting but without point. So that significated a sharpened blade.

That's why I still believed that the CRIMPT will be sharpened.

I repeat thanks for the clarification.

Kind Regards from Spain,

OSvaldo
