anyone carry one of these for utility/defense ? had one for about a year and should have never sold it. AUS-8, great multi-carry sheath,
cuts VERY well with the flat grind drop point shape. light enough to use for a neck knife, makes a good IWB knife for a left hander, and short enough to just drop in your front pocket, also the sheath doesn't roll and flop alot in neck carry because of the sheath's flat wide surface. i think it's one great knife, they need to make it with
a 7" blade for a IWB fighter.....

Joebe i have one but dont carry it on a regular basis. Not quite flat enough for me as a neck knife, because of the sheath, also its to hard to draw the knife because it fits to tightly in the sheath. other than that its a good little work horse for its cost. CRKT makes good products for those of us on a budget. I do use mine around the house for odd cutting chores.I like drop point blades for all around utility work they are a good design for that purpose. I suppose you could use it for last ditch defense but i would rather have somthing with a finger hole for a more secure grip ,or somthing with a little larger handle :)

if you polish up that screw that hold knife in the sheath with a little metal-glo (or any metal polish) and then wipe it with Armor-all
it will really slick things up..it then draws much easier. for the price it really hard to beat for an all purpose utlity.

I have the Tanto version, I like it ok, doesn't get used much
anymore. Mine is AUS-6, where did you get a AUS-8?

i had the tanto version. loved it, polished off the bead blast and made it mirror polish

mine was aus 6M, fairly soft, not unusuable, just not as desireable. great little knife

I don't know about the rest of you, but I find the handles of this whole series awkward & uncomfortable to hold. Even with a cord wrap, they're too thin & not secure in my hand. I like the idea & the design of the MDP in particular, but I returned mine & am looking for a sturdier handle, or at least one that fits my hand better. (Hope that isn't too much of a newbie comment)

I think they've designed the handle slimer because they wanted it use as a neck knife or probably an IWB. I don't think you'd want a full thickness handle for that kind of carry method. It's also much much lighter with their handle design.
I did try the Neck PECK. It was pretty nice but I didn't like how tight the knife locks in. Traded it for the F4.
I don't mind laying my hands on the MDP.
