What About This One?

Seems like I remember that the symbol stamp broke one year and they ended up running a lot of blades with out the year stamp. 1992 comes to mind but I'm not at all sure this was the right year.

I think they are somewhat common. I've seen quite a few. I'll let you know if I run accross one. g

Yes, we did talked about this awhile back . I discussed this with Joe H. as well and the snafu occured in late 2008 for the first knives coming out for 2009 . Seems the date stamp had not arrived on time for the first production run and the decision was made to go ahead with production and send the first knives out unstamped . It was not tracked how many went out the doors with no stamp but I seem to remember Joe saying less than 1K of all the models and in Jan. he knew of the 110, 112 and 500 . Perhaps others some here found others, I stumbled onto a 112 . So, glad I have one . When Larry O. and I discussed this he wasn't considering them special . But to me their like a limited edition just not noted . DM

these threads are so interesting. so... the first finger groove units, where they 4 dots?

thanks.

David, that's the same explanation I got for a couple of 111's that I have that were not date stamped and the time frame seems right. Either that or it happened the year they moved to Post Falls. I'll see if I can locate the thread in the archives.

yes any thing less then 1,000 (in my humbole opioin )
is well worth haveing as a oddity...
and the inverted 3 liner,
and the 4 true rivet issues and the dubble dash
most will get used and the ones LN will be hard to find
and there will be more collectors fishing in a limited fish pond

Yes . Well, mostly . I'd say of the 110's . But one person has told me they have a 3 dot FG 110 and I have in my collection a 3 dot FG 112 . Which are rare but by in large they were as you say . DM

Finger grooves are stated to have been introduced on the 112 with the 3 dot (Sixth Version, Variation 3).

Yes, Tin Sue I agree . I just threw the 112 in as an example . I knew Sean was talking about 110's . Please, excuse my sometimes odd writing style . I don't even hit Dave's cellar juice so I have no excuse . DM

Well I looked the pics over, and the frame is radiused all around, like the later made 4 dot frames, and the finger-grooves extend into the bolsters, like later made 4 dot frames. The inlays look like Ebony, but hard to tell from the pics. 3 pins in the inlays fits the 4 dot time frame as well. Could have been a new knife in 1983-1985, that was returned under warranty, and rebladed with a 3 line tang stamp blade(unless I've overlooked something about rocker bars or bushings:o)

Well thanks, Scott.....that's a scenario that hadn't occurred to me at all.

That's what's great about this forum.....so many ideas.

well the blade looks like full hollow grind and the sheath is a new one
i vote it is a older knife returned and had a new undated blade put in it
the inlays seem to be solid wood not lamanated
